Our next Community Leader will be a visit from Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp next week.
Yesterday we had a surprise visit from Senior Special Agent Alley from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). In keeping with our "Community Leaders" theme he told us a little bit about what he does as a federal police officer, as well as some information about stranger danger while online. The students were able to ask Special Agent Alley some questions about what it was like to be a police officer, and were very interested to hear about his police car. Our next Community Leader will be a visit from Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp next week.

Last week a few of our kiddos were chosen to say the Pledge of Allegiance over the morning announcements. They did a fantastic job! In second grade we have been learning about community leaders. Mr. Cain, the Port Huron Area School District Superintendent, came to visit all of the second grades at Crull Elementary. We are very glad that he was able to take time out of his busy day to talk with us about what it is like to run a school district as large as ours. (Fun fact, PHASD is the 22nd largest school district in the State of Michigan with a budget of $10 million, approximately 9,000 students and 600 staff members!) Click on the link below to listen to his visit!
Our super second graders had a fantastic first week at Crull! This week we worked on rules and routines, and what successful second grader classrooms look like. Ask your kiddo what they did the first week, and what we have done together to make our classroom community feel like family. :)
We are so excited to meet you! Don't forget that our Crull open house is Tuesday, August 30 from 6 to 7 p.m. If you would like to, you may drop off any school supplies to the classroom at this time.
We can't wait to meet everyone! Mrs. Alley and Ms. G. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us this year. We had an amazing year and we are both sad to see that it has come to an end. If your students would like to email us to chat during the summer, we would both LOVE to hear from them!
Be safe this summer, read lots of amazing books, enjoy time with your family, and we will see EVERYONE back to school in the fall as big kid third graders! Hugs, Julie Alley and Laurie Glombowski Today the all of the kiddos at Crull Elementary helped move Mama Duck and her ducklings from the courtyard, to a house on the canal across the street. While Mama Duck can fly to get out of the courtyard, the ducklings cannot fly yet and needed our help. :) If you have any pictures that you would like to share on Weebly, please send them to my email ([email protected]) and I will add them. Thank you! :) As a classroom we have been talking about what it means to be a good citizen. Today we watched these two quick clips and talked about what we can do, even as soon-to-be third grade students. We may not be "big" yet, but we are mighty, and our actions can bring positive change to others. :) When we came back to school after Memorial Break, we found that all of our Painted Lady chrysalis were empty. We instead had twenty five butterflies in our nets. :) We had so much fun at the Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium! |
